Paediatric Nurse Specialist

Steph Sollosi

Steph Sollosi (RGN RSCN ENB 405)

… is an experienced Children's Nurse. She undertook her adult nurse training at St.Bartholomew's Hospital in London with further paediatric training at Guy's Hospital, and neonatal training at the Homerton Hospital in London. She spent several years as a Senior Nurse on a neonatal surgical unit specialising in the care of babies requiring surgery primarily for gastro-intestinal and feeding problems. She is experienced in working with babies who were premature or sick, and has particular interest and expertise in children with complex healthcare needs. Recently, she has worked as a Professional Advisor at the Department of Health.

Paediatric Dietitian

Becky Stevenson

Becky Stevenson (MSc, RD, SENr)

… is an experienced paediatric dietitian. She trained at UCLH and is also a qualified sports and exercise nutritionist. Becky is a member of the British Dietetic Association and is HPC registered. Her career in childhood nutrition started 15 years ago working for the MRC Childhood Nutrition Research Group, Institute of Child Health, London. She went on to work as a clinical dietitian in the main London teaching Hospitals (Royal London, UCLH, Royal Free) in varying paediatric roles. Her previous NHS post was with the Children's liver services at Kings College Hospital. Becky has a wide experience in paediatric dietetics covering food allergy, gastro, liver, oncology, neonatology, HIV and sports nutrition (currently Head of sports nutrition for British Tennis). Becky also works as a volunteer for CHIVA project in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa (www.chiva-africa.org).

Consultant Paediatrician

Prof. Ricky J. Richardson

Prof. Ricky J. Richardson

… is a General Paediatrician with a special interest in children with specific learning and behavioural difficulties. Most of his Paediatric career has been based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in London, but a considerable period of time has been spent overseas on specific assignments. He is Consultant Paediatrician to The Child and Family Practice, and to Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in Windsor, Berkshire, where he holds a regular weekly paediatric clinic. He serves as Consultant Paediatrician on the faculty of the Department of Psychological Medicine at GOSH, where he contributes regularly to the Social and Communication Disorders Clinic. Professor Richardson is a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine.

BREASTFEEDING NURSE CONSELLOR

Joanne Gilks (RGN ENB 409)

… has over 20 years experience working with sick and preterm babies, with the last 10 years as a UNICEF trained Breastfeeding Specialist Nurse. During the difficult period when babies are too sick to feed directly from the breast, she specialises in helping mothers to improve or maintain their milk supply prior to achieving full breastfeeding when the baby becomes well enough. Joanne is experienced in supporting mothers to exclusively breastfeed and overcome feeding difficulties that may occur in those first few weeks after birth, thus providing mothers and their babies with the optimum health benefits that are so essential for the best start in life.

CONSULTANT PAEDIATRICIAN AND GASTROENTEROLOGIST

Warren Hyer

Warren Hyer MB ChB FRCPCH

… is a consultant Paediatrician & Paediatric Gastroenterologist based in North West London. As a full time children's doctor at Northwick Park & St Mark's Hospitals in Harrow, Middx, he specialises in general and acute paediatrics, and paediatric gastroenterology, food allergy with nutrition.

Clinical Psychologist

Bev Sokel

Bev Sokel (BSc MA AFBPsS CPsychol)

… is a clinical child psychologist. She undertook her training at the University of Nottingham with further paediatric training at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children. She worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital between 1985 and 1994 and during this period she was part of a multi-disciplinary Feeding Team both for inpatients and for outpatients seeing children with gastro-intestinal and feeding problems. She has maintained an interest in feeding problems and now works part-time in the NHS and part-time in independent practice.
